Skin Cancer
What is skin cancer?
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. In fact, more than 5 million cases of skin cancer were diagnosed in the United States in 2016 alone. We lose the ability to protect our skin from the damaging effects of the sun as we age. Although skin cancer is one of the leading causes of death for people who spend time in the sun, this does not mean all of them will get it. Throughout one’s life, a person’s skin is exposed to more and more sun, thus increasing his or her risk of developing skin cancer. Those of you who spend a prolonged amount of time in the sun, for example, are at a higher risk of developing skin cancer.
what causes skin cancer?
The most common type of skin cancer is basal cell carcinoma (BCC), which is caused by ultraviolet light from the sun, and nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC), which is also caused by ultraviolet light. The most common form of cancer, BCC is a slow-growing skin cancer that can take decades to develop. It is the most common type of skin cancer in the United States. The most common form of skin cancer in women, NMSC is caused by exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun, tanning beds, and artificial sources of ultraviolet light such as lights from a remote control or a TV.
What do the early stages of skin cancer look like?
In the early stages of skin cancer, it may be hard to spot any changes to skin, but in some advanced melanomas, the cancer may be already in the skin of the person. There is a chance at this stage that skin cancer will be caught early since it may not yet have penetrated deeply into the deeper layers of the body through the skin.
What is Skin Cancer Surgery?
Skin cancer is an extremely common disease, affecting one in five individuals in their lifetime (and about 2.5 million people every year). Unfortunately, about 1 in 5 people who develop skin cancer do not know they have it. This means that skin cancer is easily and effectively spread from one person to another. An effective method of treating skin cancer is the procedure known as skin cancer surgery. The therapy is not a cure, however it can be used as a complementary treatment along with other options to promote the best possible outcome for a patient.
What Results Can I Expect from Skin Cancer Surgery?
“Current surgery on the skin can often be performed within an hour following the diagnosis of skin cancer. It is referred to as a “cutaneous surgery.” Skin cancer surgery is also known as a “cut” type of procedure because it is minimally invasive. It doesn’t matter what type of skin cancer surgery you choose, it will be tailored to meet the specific needs of each patient.
Does Skin Cancer kill you?
Does skin cancer have a chance of killing you? As a matter of fact, it’s very unlikely that you’ll die from skin cancer – and if you do, the chances are fairly slim.
